Tunes

Ok – so this is still subject to change but we’ll be doing the following tunes:

Strength Will Rise

Quite close to the original here. I’ve doubled up the bass parts with a
synthy bass sound for maximum phatness. Mr T, you’ll need to mirror closely what is going on down there. Simon, the electric part is not hugely interesting – but is very important, please can you do exactly as they do on the original. Kat, sing melody in the verse and harmony in the chorus.

Yesterday Today and Forever

House version of this tune. Not much in the way of electric guitar – Simon can mimic the electric going on on the original. Notice on the backing track the ending which is gonna be different from the CD.

Praise Is Rising

House version of this tune. Not much in the way of electric guitar – Simon can mimic the electric guitar on the original. During the chorus, go to full electric ramping.

Dancing Generation

Very similar to the ‘Facedown’ version except with some extra drum loops. However, i’ve kept the 4 on the floor feel from the original track (which I don’t currently have a copy of). So we’ll go with it and see what happens!

Oh Happy Day

We will do this one exactly as you would if you were Tim Hughes leading at Soul Survivor, intro and all. No backing track on this one!

Original:

Here I am to Worship

This is actually in the same key as what we’ll do it in! Hurrah. Pretty straightforward, the chords are slightly different. I think I’ll play chords on this so some nice delay clean stuff Simon I reckon. Watch out for the odd chords (end of bridge) and the various holds on the end chorus chords. I’ve noted down how many bars we hold on for in the chords.

How Great Is Our God

Ok – I don’t like the original version at all. It is too fast and I don’t like the sound or feel for it. I have therefore put together some loops and some pads that we’ll use that to play along with in a more ‘usual’ way.

One Way

So the version we have here is the Hillsong Kids version. I don’t plan for it to be as cheesey as this, but I will get a backing track that will keep it in a similar feel.

Shine

Apparently this song is really popular with kids and youth leaders right now. Only the Lord will know why. I’ll do my best to make this better, but I’m not holding out much hope.

Tell The World

This is a recent Hillsong tune that actually has some really cool lyrics that are easy for anyone to understand. I think we could really rock it out. I’ve checked out quite a few versions of this tune and there are many ‘kids’ versions that are very similar to the original. I would therefore suggest we go for trying to be like the original with no backing track:

Joy Is In This Place

We will do this pretty much like they have here – perhaps with a backing track of just some drums to phatten her up. The song is a 4 chord wonder, really easy and so should be straightforward to learn to play. Nothing too much going on here – and even the riff they have on this song I am not sure I like much. Can you think of something better Simon??

The Rock Solid 2009 Theme Tune

Written by me – we’ll be doing this exactly like the demo below. We will do this in the key of G (rather than A on the original):
